Wrought Iron Bay Window Pole with Discs
Wrought Iron Bay Window Pole with Discs
Our sturdy, solid wrought iron curtain poles offer an elegant, made-to-measure solution. They are easy to order and straightforward to fit. If you have any questions, please contact us by phone or email. Daryl is happy to help.
Daryl led the industry in the design of bay window curtain poles. His passing ring system allows you to have as many brackets as you need to support the bends, while still allowing you to pull one pair of curtains around the bay.
Daryl invented this system whilst he was supplying the John Lewis Partnership. His passing brackets have a peg that fits into a hole drilled on the underside of the solid pole. Other systems often use snap-on brackets that may catch the rings.

What's Included?
Every bay window pole comes with:
Solid curtain pole with bespoke bends to fit your window and holes pre-drilled to take the passing brackets. Most poles are made in 2 pieces with a join in the centre
2 removable finials
2 end brackets with vertical back plates
1 passing intermediate bracket to support each bend
1 pole joiner and centre bracket (for bays with more than 1 bend)
Passing curtain rings (1 ring per 10cm of the pole length selected). For example, poles up to 400cm have 40 rings. Extra rings are available in the bay window section of the store.
Screws, wall plugs and an allen key to tighten the grub screws that secure the finials to the pole

Measuring Guidelines
We need wall measurements taken at the height the pole will be fitted.
This link shows bay window layouts. Choose the layout that matches your window. Contact us if none of these are suitable.
Use a metal tape and measure in centimetres. If the corners are not sharp, mark the wall so that you measure to and from the same point (to avoid marking the wall use a piece of masking tape). Measurements inside the bay include the length of the finials.
Diagonal measurements are used to calculate the angles. Measure these precisely and take the diagonal measurements to the same points used for the wall measurements.
The curtains need space to be stacked. If you would like the pole to return out into the room, specify the length of the returns, excluding the finials. Each return must be at least 10cm.
Type the measurements into the measurements box above. For example, A-B 80cm. -

Brackets
Choose Contemporary or Scrolled brackets to suit your interior. You can see the contemporary brackets on the bay pole with barrel finials.
The bracket length (the distance between the wall and the centre of the pole) you need depends on the depth of the curtain folds and any projections, such as window sills. Our standard bracket lengths are 6cm, 8cm and 10cm, with 6cm being the most popular. Other lengths are available on request.
We drill holes in the pole to take the intermediate brackets to support the bends. If you need the brackets in specific positions, please contact Daryl.
Passing brackets will only allow the curtain to pass if used with passing rings. A curtain with an eyelet or tab top heading will not pass the bracket.
We offer other bracket styles, such as ceiling brackets and sleeve brackets. If you have a tricky fixing space, please contact Daryl for advice.
Countersunk slotted screws are the easiest to fit. The hand-forged square headed coach screws need to be fitted with a spanner.

Fitting Instructions
You will need a 7mm drill bit for masonry (or a smaller drill bit to make a pilot hole in wood), a measuring tape, spirit level and someone to help hold the pole in place. We supply screws, wall plugs and a key to tighten the grub screws.
